Welcome to the Norbury Famly History site. This site consist of the family trees of my four grandparents: Harold Norbury, Eva Dance, Frank Petty and Gertrude Pye and those of my wife's parents Harry Hewett and Mary Johnson.

Harold Norbury

Harold Norbury was born in Alexandra, Victoria in 1901.  His grandfather Joshua, who was born near Oldham in Lancashire, had come to Austraila probably in 1854, after haveing spent some time in the United States of America. After a somewhat nomadic period which included some time in New Zealand, Joshua settled in Alexandra and raised five surviving children.  Some of Joshua's descendants still live in Alexandra.

Eva Dance

My grandmother came to Australia as a girl from England in 1912 with her family.  In Australia, her father at first worked as a carpenter, but became a builder, building houses in the Melbourne suburbs of Caulfield and Elsternwick.  Eva Dance is decended from George Dance the Elder, a London architect active in the eighteenth century.

Frank Petty

Frank Petty was born in Doncaster, Victoria. His grandfather Thomas had come to Doncaster, Victoria in the mid 1850's from Yorkshire, England and planted one of the first apple orchards in Doncaster. Five generations of Pettys, including my grandfather, were to be orchardists in Doncaster.

Gertrude Pye

Gertrude Pye was born in Lancashire, England and came to Australia in 1912 aged about 13 with her parents and six of her seven siblings.  The Pye family lived in and around Mitcham and Vermont, VIctoria.

Alternatively click on the "Lists" button at the top, then "Individuals". This will take you to an alphabet. Click on the first letter of the surname you wish to investigate, a window will open with a list of surnames, chose the name that interests you.
